On August 9th 2014, Singapore celebrated her 49th birthday as a city-state. From third word to first world, this is truly a miracle by any yardsticks.
As a small city (aka a really small red dot off the southern coast of Peninsular Malaysia), I hope we can stand more centuries to come. History has taught us that small countries are really vulnerable and ceased to exist once they become irrelevant or “absorbed” into bigger countries.
Once again, happy birthday Singapore, maybe we should get you a birthday cake?
